Tim Lowe (Cello)


 Tim kicked off our Christmas 2011 concert with the long and ethereal cello solo at the beginning of Karl Jenkins 'Benedictus' which was absolutely stunning -  we look forward to performng with him this year.

Working as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, Tim enjoys a busy and varied career. He spends much of his time playing recitals up and down the country and in major London venues including Wigmore Hall, St John's Smith Square, QEH, Cadogan Hall and Purcell Room. Tim has played live on BBC Radio 3 as well as radio stations in Europe. Ha has won numerous awards and prizes including from the Kirckman Concert Society, the Tillett Trust and the Countess of Munster Trust.

 Tim has been Guest Principal Cello with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the English Chamber Orchestra. His work with the ECO takes him all over the world including recent tours to the Far East and to Doha. He has also played with the ECO Ensemble.

 Tim has recently joined the teaching faculty of both the Junior and the Senior departments of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He also teaches and coaches regularly at Eton College and on courses and festivals throughout the UK.

 He was educated at Eton College where he was a Major Music scholar before studying with Louise Hopkins at GSMD.

  His 2011-12 season includes performances of the Dvorak, Elgar, Saint-Saens and Schumann concertos and a very full recital schedule some with the support of the Countess of Munster recital scheme and the Tillett Trust.
