Alexandra Kennedy ( Soprano)



Alexandra studied under Christine Cairns at the Birmingham Conservatoire, and recently has  been out to Salzburg to have private masterclasses with  Barbara Bonney.

 Performance highlights include a recital at the Ritz for Prince Albert of Monaco,   singing at several International Twickenham rugby  games, singing for Boris Johnson the night he was  elected Mayor of London, a private recital for  Gordon and Sarah Brown at Chequers, performing  at the Cannes Lions Festival, Cannes, and the  Posedonia shipping conference in Athens,  an  historic performance for the earthquake appeal in  the Great Hall of People in Beijing, and a private  recital for the Duchess of Cornwall at Clarence  House.

Operatic roles include Titania 'The Fairy Queen', Zerlina (Don Giovanni), the title role in Handel's 'Semele', Despina (Cosi fan Tutti), Adele (Die Fledermaus) and Pannoshka in Rimsky Korsakov's 'May Night' for the Garsington Opera Educational Project.

Alexandra is passionate about English Song and Recitals include two world premieres of song cycles: 'In Nature's Ball' and 'Song Thrush' which were specifically written for her voice by composer Peter Cowdrey, and performances of Herbert Howells' 'In Green Ways'. She also adores Debussy and has performed the seldom sung 'Vasnier songbook' in it's entirety on several occasions - notably at the Chipping Campden Festival.  She also enjoys tapping into her Norwegian roots and has sung a large number of Grieg songs in Norwegian

Last year she sang Beethoven's 'Egmont Lieder' at the Electric Theatre, Guildford,  at a private tea at the Ritz with Cherie Blair and Sinitta, and she collaborated with English National Ballet by singing Mahler's 'Ruckert Lieder' in rehearsals for Wayne Eagling's newly choreographed work 'Resolution' and then at the Coliseum as part of Wayne Eagling's Nutracker throughout December. 

She also got married to Tom Freedman on 13th August 2011
